Returning – Silent Sunday and Community Picnic

It’s been a while [of pause, of work, of witnessing, of joys, of griefs] of living in a world that can feel relentless, particularly for those of us moving through it in minoritised bodies.

We are back with two offerings – the return of our Silent Sundays, and a collaboration in the form of a Community Picnic with United Families and Friends Campaign (UFFC).

Silent Sunday – Sunday 19th July

Next Sunday we will be holding a Silent Sunday – an online gathering for people from the Global Majority to come together with the intention to rest quietly in community.  You’re invited, if you wish, to bring a restful activity – maybe a book to read for pleasure, some crafting, a puzzle. We also actively encourage naps and just generally using this as a restful time for yourself. We know resting isn’t always easy or possible: you don’t have to stay for the whole time if that’s not available to you, but we hope you can come for a little time to figuratively lay under the stars with us.

Community Picnic – Saturday 15th August

We’re happy to invite you all to a community picnic which we’ll be hosting with UFFC, an organisation we are proud to be collaborating with.  United Families & Friends Campaign is a coalition of families impacted by the death of a loved one at the hands of the state.

So much of abolition can be the (very necessary) struggle and endeavour – we look forward to this chance for another side of the work: to hold a space for coming together to share food and joy, with no other purpose than to connect in ease.

We hope to see you soon, and if you’ve not already, sign up to our (very infrequent) mailing list to be kept up to date with our events and more.
