Last week we witnessed brutal and targeted White Supremacist entitlement and hatred result in the death of Cambridge Professor, Jason Arday, after an intensely anti-Black and ableist witch hunt akin to a public lynching.
GEM was formed in the knowledge of academia’s racism and toxicity – we have been shocked to see the extent to which this violence is willing to go, and heartbroken at the outcome. Our love, solidarity and rage go out to Jason’s loved ones. We pray he is now able to rest in peace, and be remembered for the fullness of his life.
Silent Sunday – 23rd August 5pm to 7pm (online)

This Sunday, 23rd August, we will hold a Silent Sunday, which will include the option to join a facilitated Grief Circle in the first hour. Email us on CollectiveGEM [at] pm [dot] me to receive the link to join, and further details.

GEM’s Silent Sundays are online gatherings for people from the Global Majority to come together with the intention to rest quietly in community. You’re invited, if you wish, to bring a restful activity – maybe a book to read for pleasure, some crafting or gardening, a puzzle or some journalling. We also actively encourage naps and just generally using this as a restful time for yourself.
We know resting isn’t always easy or possible: you don’t have to stay for the whole time if that’s not available to you, but we hope you can come for a little time to figuratively lay under the stars with us
Sign up to our (very infrequent) mailing list to be kept up to date with our events and more.
